Fund Accounting Q&A

Question: What are the different types of user licenses/seats and how are they accounted for?

Answer: There are four types of user licenses available for Sage MIP Fund Accounting.

  • Concurrent Users
  • Requisition Users
  • Executive View Users
  • Visual Analyzer Users

To determine what you are licensed for, open the Administration module and go to System>Activate License.

Concurrent Users – This is the number of regular users that can be in the application at one time.  You can setup as many concurrent user IDs as you want.  However, if you are licensed for 10 concurrent (regular) users, the application only allows 10 users to access the program at the same time.

Requisition Users – The Electronic Requisitions module is a “named-user” license.  This means that licensing is enforced based on how many people are “named” or “flagged” to access the requisition system, not how man y can access the system at the same time.  For example, if you own a license for 10 Concurrent Users, but you have 20 users setup in Sage MIP Fund Accounting, only 10 of them can be ‘flagged’ as a Requisition User in the Administration module under Security>Maintain Users.

Executive View Users - are limited-use, concurrent licenses.  These users are independent of Concurrent Users, and are limited to Inquiry, reporting and Budget worksheet preparation.  You can create as many Executive View user IDs as you want but the application will only allow the licensed number in at one time.

Visual Analyzer Users – This is the number of regular users that can be in the Visual Analyzer (Dashboard) application at one time.  You can assign as many concurrent user IDs as you want in Security>Setup Organization Menus>Accounting>Dashboard.  However, the application will only allow the licensed number in at any one time.
