Sage MIP Fund Accounting Q&A

Question:

I have lost the password for User ID ADMIN. We have successfully upgraded using the User ID MIP, but can't unlock users or change rights assignments. Is there a default password set when the software is upgraded? If not, how can I get the user password reset?

Answer:

Yes, there is a default password for the User ID ADMIN.  Starting with the release of Sage MIP Fund Accounting version 4.3 products, the default password for the User ID ADMIN has changed.

Since the administrative password provides unrestricted database access that circumvents controls and restrictions set up by the system administrator, Sage Nonprofit Customer Support does not issue the password over the phone without first obtaining a signed documentation by an approved individual allowing Sage to release the password.

Ways to Access the User ID ADMIN Password:

Obtain a Release of Password Authorization form by contacting Blytheco Customer Support. This authorization is intended to protect the security of an organization’s Sage MIP Fund Accounting system. Fill in the information, sign, date the document and fax it back to the analyst that is assigned to your Support Case.

Keep in mind that the system administrator could have also changed the default password for User ID ADMIN to some other password.  Sage Nonprofit Customer Support has no way of knowing this piece of information.  If you want to reset the ADMIN password back to the default password, you must first log on to the Administration module with the customer-designated password for ADMIN. Then go to Security > Maintain Users.  Select the User ID ADMIN and click on the Change Password button.

Otherwise, if you are unable to locate the customer-designated password for User ID ADMIN, the next step is to contact Customer Support as a custom script can be created which will change the ADMIN password to an existing user’s password.
