Sage MAS 500—System Requirements (v6.1)

SQL Server hardware requirements
The server you will use for SQL Server and Sage MAS 500 must meet the following requirements:

Minimum Dual Intel Pentium® III class or better (450MHz or faster recommended)

Minimum of 512MB of RAM (recommendation varies according to user count and data volume)

Minimum of 1GB of available disk space for database creation

In general, the best overall performance is received when the server and clients contain sufficient hardware resources above the specified minimums and the server is dedicated. Production servers generally include additional memory, 512 KB to 2 GB of L2 Cache, 2 to 4 CPUs, multiple RAID 1 arrays and a host of other advanced hardware. The server configuration will not only affect server performance in data manipulation, but even the form load times at the local client machine. Variations in the amount of data, number of users and modules in use can all drastically affect performance.

Server operating system requirements
You need to configure the operating system as a dedicated database server. Sage MAS 500 requires the following server operating system:

Windows 2000 Server (Service Pack 1 is recommended).

Network protocol requirements
Sage MAS 500 requires that you use the TCP/IP routable network protocol and assign IP addresses to the client and server systems. The following SQL network libraries are supported on the TCP/IP protocol:

Named Pipes

Multi Protocol

TCP/IP Sockets

SQL Server requirements
Sage MAS 500 requires the following version of Microsoft SQL Server:

SQL Server 2000

Note: Multiple instances of SQL Server 2000 can be used, but because of performance degradation, only a single instance of SQL Server is supported on the production server.

Internet Applications requirements
For Internet Applications, the web server where the eCustomer, eSalesForce, eExecutive or Web Reports web site is located requires Windows 2000 Server and the provided Internet Information Server (IIS) version 5.0.

Client workstation requirements

Compatibility with Windows Vista

Pentium® II class or better processor

Minimum of 64MB of RAM (128MB or more recommended)

SVGA Monitor and Video Drivers (800x600 resolution)

300MB of available disk space for a local client installation

Windows 2000 Server Terminal Services or Windows 2000 Professional

A default print device. This is is required for Crystal Reports

Terminal Services requirements
Sage MAS 500 supports the use of Windows 2000 Terminal Services to enable multiple user sessions to run concurrently on a shared server. You can use one NT user account to establish multiple Windows Terminal sessions from the same terminal or different terminals.

Consider the following recommendations for best performance:

High-performance network interface card (NIC).

A microprocessor-based multi-port asynchronous communications adapter to reduce interrupt overhead for dial-in users.
