Improving performance in Sage MAS 500
The following are suggestions for improving performance in Sage MAS 500:
- Verify the consistency of the databases and indexes. Regular database maintenance is crucial.
- Configure client workstations and servers above the minimum
standards stated in the Sage MAS 500 Compatibility and Resource Guide.
- Avoid installing Microsoft SQL Server on a domain controller. Domain Controllers perform the resource-intensive tasks of replicating the network accounts database and performing network login authentication.
- The server should be dedicated to running SQL Server. Start only the minimum services required to run SQL Server.
- Do not set up the system as a DHCP, WINS, IIS, RAS, print, file, or Windows Terminal Server.
- Ensure that the disk drive controllers are updated with the most current BIOS and device drivers. This is especially important when using any type of RAID controller.
- Tasks such as order entry, invoicing, and posting consume significant CPU resources. Offload the reporting requirements to a second server. Use transaction replication to copy Sage MAS 500 data to the reporting server.
